Mark Bradbourne

His excitement for all things Tableau rivals our own Emily Kund’s.  By day Mark is a passionate Tableau Evangelist at KeyBank and within Cleveland, Ohio. He is a Qualified Associate, and Tableau Ambassador. He also co-leads the Cleveland TUG and leads the internal TUG at KeyBank.
Get the scoop on these sweet tips.  TUGs are a great vehicle to build a community and Internal TUGs have advantages not available in the outside world! In this talk you discover some lessons learned, pitfalls to be aware of and resources to utilize!

Sarah Bartlett

Sarah is an active member of the Tableau Community & loves all things data! Sarah is a Tableau Social Ambassador & earlier this year made it to the finals of Iron Viz Europe. She participates regularly in viz projects including #MakeoverMonday & writes a blog at sarahlovesdata.co.uk.
Fear? Doubt? Uncertainty?  It’s time to breakthrough what’s holding you back with this session aimed at encouraging people to enter Iron Viz feeder contests.  Attendees will get a sneak peek into a community project to give people more confidence to competing in the feeder contests.  Learn from one of the first Iron Viz Europe contestants and see how you can benefit from this competition.

Eugenia Kis

Eugenia is a co-leader of The Netherlands Tableau User Group and Analytics Consultant at InterWorks. Having a passion for problem solving through analytics, being a life-long learner, and working with people, Eugenia naturally inspires and supports others on their data driven journey.
Eugenia is all about the #TUGLife and thinks you should be too! In this session, Eugenia will share her top reasons why you should attend or get involved in TUGs.

Christina Gorga

Christina Gorga is a cognitive scientist-turned-data visualization specialist with a passion for integrating design and psychology into solutions to drive exploration, creativity, and impact. She is  currently the Data Visualization Lead for Booz Allen Hamilton’s Commercial Operations Analytics team.  When she’s not busy vizzing, you will find her in 18th century costume at George Washington’s Mount Vernon, watching all of the British television she can get her hands on, and playing with her dachshund-beagle mix, Dolley Madison.

Fashion designers blend innovative design, function, and materials to produce cohesive collections. As data designers, we bring together data sources, analytical perspectives, and user experience to extract meaning from numbers. In this session, Christina will present some ways in which she’s discovered overlap between the two fields, what others in the data world are doing to create their own wearable designs, and my own journey to create my own data “fashion house.

Mike Moore

Mike began his Tableau journey by cyberstalking Tableau Twitter celebs Dan Murray, Michael Cristiani and Andy Kriebel. When Dan suggested he start a TUG, the Omaha TUG was born.  Mike applied to speak at TC at a Fortune 500 company, which he led for four years. Mike is currently employed as a Data Scientist where he still uses Tableau every day and suffers from an acute case of Imposter Syndrome.

Find out how what started as an effort get better at CRM turned into a mobile-first design strategy that empowers sales with analytics to engage customers more effectively and help increase productivity and profits. That sounds like boring business stuff. What we are really going to talk about is how we tried to use minimalist design and good storytelling to make our sales team a little better using the one device they were guaranteed to always have with them, their phone.

Heidi Kalbe

Heidi is a former software developer and self-taught Tableau user. Right out of university, she got into Business Intelligence consulting at The Information Lab. Considering herself a Tableau evangelist, she helps clients with their Tableau adaption and projects, teaches dashboard design and has trained over 130 new Tableau users all over Germany.

Deep-diving into the world of Self-Service BI may appear daring, but not if it is done correctly. In this session, you will learn about how to gain insights from your data, how to school data literacy, and how to maximize user acceptance. Dare to lace up your Self-Service BI shoes and come out of this session a runner.

Steve Fenn

Steve is a Tableau Expert employed by Tesselation who basically lives in Tableau. When he’s not developing reports in Tableau or teaching Tableau, he’s using Tableau Public as a hobby.

Whether you’re an instructor or student, learning how to use and teach date hierarchies in Tableau will benefit you.

David Timm

David Timm is a SharePoint/Web Analyst with the City of Glendale, Arizona. Besides being the City's SME for all things SharePoint, David also has developed many Tableau reports for the City business partners using SharePoint Lists as the data source.

This session will provide an overview of how you can use SharePoint Online in your Tableau workbooks. This session will discuss tips for connecting to a SharePoint List, building a Tableau workbook from this data, and how the City of Glendale is using this functionality.

Carl Allchin

The "Other" Head Coach at the Data School in the UK.  Carl is a Tableau Social Media Ambassador and has used Tableau heavily since version 7 (though he did download v5.2). He enjoys visualising random subjects but mostly the he has the heart eye emoji for the NBA and random cycling data sets.

The Information Lab’s Data School has managed to unearth some amazing talent but it's not as straight forward as it may appear. Why have they been able to find people as passionate as them and are ready for the training? Find out in this talk and learn about what your team can do to change the normal hiring format to unearth your own future stars.

Vince Baumel

Vince began his journey with data 7 years go, and hopped the Tableau train 3 years ago. He is a proud member of the Twin Cities Tableau User Group, and a regular community presence on both the Tableau Community Forums and Twitter. Last year he spearheaded the #data17donates campaign; a fundraiser to help those affected by the Mandalay Bay shooting that took place just 1 week prior to the Tableau Conference. He's a father of 3 boys under 6, and what little free time he gets he spends in music, photography, and blissful coffee.

For all the challenges we face in our careers, the greatest we will have to overcome is ourselves. The barriers and resistances we put in place that "convince" us that we don't have what it takes, or that there isn't anything we can add to the conversation, or that publishing our own work can wait for another day - these are the challenges that we need to dig deep to overcome. The #data17donates initiative started as a small idea, then was catalyzed by the amazing Tableau community and became a force for change that impacted people from all over the world.

Chavonne Odom

Chavonne Odom is a District-dwelling wife, mother of 2, and a proud HBCU grad. A recovering marketer, she’s naturally inquisitive, a fan of most music genres, and an impassioned data storyteller.   She’s spent the past year serving up digital engagement insights and coaching government communicators to success for a govtech SaaS company.

Join Chavonne for a look at the Pop Stars of Public Sector Engagement Strategy. She will illustrate how government clients use data insights to effectively communicate timely and relevant info to segmented audiences; to drive behavior change; and motivate citizens to take action.

Lindsay Betzendahl

Lindsay Betzendahl is an ex-marriage and family therapist turned data rockstar, in and out of work.  Lindsay hosts her #ProjectHealthViz initiative and her favorite words are tessellate and enigma. She likes ampersand, delta, and asterisk symbols, eats jalapenos every day, loves craft beer, enjoys snowboarding, and, of course, loves playing in Tableau.

You will learn how to use aspects of design and inspiration to fuel your analytic exploration and overall dashboard development process. We will challenge the idea that you must create graphs first and open up to the idea that design is fluid, without a defined beginning or end, and analytics, perhaps, can lie in the eye of the beholder.

Steve Prokopiou

Steve has over 25 years experience in BI and Analytics. Steve started his Tableau journey in 2014 as the Director of Professional Services for Tableau in EMEA. He now works as an independent consultant. His most recent engagement was to establish a COE and enablement program for a major global confectionery manufacturer. For fun Steve attempts to play tennis, football and is giving Makeover Monday a go!

This is the story of a major confectionery manufacturer and the first steps of their Visual Analytics journey. Learn how a COE started with Tableau as it's base, moved to Power BI and then ended-up with both tools being made available across the global organisation. This talk will cover the lessons learned and the must do's for you to consider when rolling out Visual Analytics in your business.

Marian Fairman & Sue Franke

Sue Franke is a data nerd.  She’s worked at Progressive for 13 years in a variety of roles, including pricing, marketing, research and development, digital analytics, and supporting Tableau as part of the Analytics Center of Excellence.  She currently manages the analytics team for the internal call center and is actively working to teach others to tell stories with Tableau.

Marian Fairman is a data analyst who prefers to call herself an intellectual rather than a nerd.  She’s been an analyst for 12 years, worked with Tableau for 7 years, and has been at Progressive for 2 years.  At Progressive, she tells stories with Business of IT data and is active in the Tableau community.   Outside of work, Marian serves on the board of Dobama Theatre and is active telling stories with the Cleveland theater community.

OPD, how can I explain it?  Sue and Marian will take you through it frame by frame.  Sue and Marian are “nerdy by nature” and always dealing with what we like to call “Other People’s Data”, which is data that you don’t own, control, or manage. Sue and Marian will walk you through examples using Alteryx of connecting and using OPD easily, so you’ll definitely be down with OPD by the end of this session.

Micheal Sandberg

Michael Sandberg has worked in business intelligence and analytics for more than 30 years. His mantra that he preaches to everyone (or anyone who will listen) is to get business partners or clients excited about their data. Michael is also author of the popular data visualization blog, http://www.datavizblog.com. He previously held Business Intelligence positions at General Motors, American Express, AAA Insurance and The Walt Disney Company.

In this session, Michael will explore how combining modern approaches to utility computing, data access services, and automated data warehouse generation can simplify the production of reporting/analytics platforms that are specially designed to meet the consumers’ needs without forcing the request to go through the IT bottleneck.

Katie Wagner

Katie Wagner is a proud Cajun and data enthusiast.  Outside of leading the InterWorks training team, she dreams of fun, everyday occurrences that should be beautiful visualizations.  Katie's passion is helping others excel in their goals, and she loves traveling to visit her Tableau Community friends.

How much did I spend on beer this month? Are my vehicle expenses significantly more than just fuel? Will I reach my retirement goal?"  Share in Katie's introduction to the Financial Independence Retire Early community through data-driven action.  Learn about methods of collecting data, struggles of data cleanliness, and fighting cognitive dissonance surrounding household finances.

Curtis Harris

Curtis is the Head of Analytics Engineering for Pluralsight, where he helps product experience make data informed decisions. In the Tableau Public space, Curtis is a Public Ambassador and won the Iron Viz Championship in 2016. Most recently, he has been putting his energy into tutorial videos, in an effort to build the next wave of Tableau experts.
